The Marriage Equality Wiki is a collaborative website (in other words, a
wiki) that aims to give a public voice to the millions of people around the world who support same-sex marriage and want to speak about how their lives or the lives of people they love have been affected by their governments' decisions about whether to recognize same-sex marriage. This is an issue that affects people of all sexual orientations and marital statuses—indirectly if not directly.
Add your name (and your spouse's or intended's name, if applicable) to the
We Support Same-Sex Marriage page and create an individual page about why you personally support same-sex marriage and how laws for or against same-sex marriage have helped or hurt you or the people you love. You can even add pictures of yourself, your family, and anything else you feel like including that might help give readers a better sense of the wide variety of individual personalities supportng same-sex marriage.
| If same-sex marriage supporters try to win hearts in California's agricultural heartland by appealing to their neighbors with personal stories, "that's the only way [efforts to repeal Proposition 8] could work," said Pete Baker, an evangelical pastor at a Bakersfield church . . . |
—
"Same-sex marriage backers weigh ballot date", by Joe Garofoli, San Francisco Chronicle, July 26, 2009
In this case, an evangelical pastor got it right. And not just about California, but about the entire world. So start appealing to your neighbors! Post your personal stories on the
We Support Same-Sex Marriage page now! If we all band together to post our stories in a single place, we can have a huge impact.

Comments and Questions | [edit] |
Q. What about other forms of marriage equality? Is this wiki only about marriage equality for same-sex couples?
A. Yes. This wiki is currently dedicated solely to promoting the equality of same-sex marriage to opposite-sex marriage. It is not intended either to promote or to oppose the equality of any other forms of marriage.
Q. What about opposition to same-sex marriage? Is this wiki only for promoting same-sex marriage?
A. Yes. This wiki is currently dedicated solely to promoting the equality of same-sex marriage to opposite-sex marriage. People who wish to post about their opposition to same-sex marriage should create their own websites and post about it there, not here on the Marriage Equality Wiki.
Q. What if I'm not comfortable posting my name online?
A. There's no rule that you have to use your full legal name here. Use whatever you're comfortable with, as long as no one else is already using it.
Q. What if I don't want to bother registering with a username and password?
A. That's fine. You can still edit any page of the wiki and do all the same things you'd be able to do if you registered. However, registering with a username and password does make it easier for us to distinguish between your own editing and any that might be made by vandals, so that we can make sure your page continues looking exactly the way you intend it to look.
Q. How can I find out more about the laws regarding same-sex marriage in my area?
A. Visit our Laws page.
Q. How can I find out more general information about same-sex marriage?
A. Visit our Resources page.
Q. Besides posting on the Marriage Equality Wiki, what can I do to support same-sex marriage?
A. Visit our Strategies page for numerous ideas.
Q. Are there other Marriage Equality Wikis?
A. Yes.
Here's another.
Q. Who pays for this wiki?
A. The Marriage Equality Wiki is part of the
Wiki Spot project, a nonprofit,
member-supported organization that provides a home and interconnectivity for all kinds of wiki projects, including but by no means limited to political projects from all across the political spectrum. It is owned by the entire community of people who contribute to reading, editing, and/or financially supporting it—including you!
